With the Paris Olympics 2024 fast approaching, athletes—including badminton shuttlers—have been busy trying to book their spot in the biggest stage of sporting events. The badminton qualification process spans from May 1, 2023, to April 28, 2024. Once this period ends, the comprehensive list of qualified players will be unveiled on April 30.

The qualification criteria are decided based on the ‘Race to Paris Rankings List’, which factors in the top 10 event results. Those ranked within the top 16 of this list automatically secure a quota place. However, national federations face limitations if more than two players from the same federation are ranked within the top 16, necessitating a strategic selection process.

In doubles competitions, a similar protocol applies, with a maximum of two pairs permitted if they rank within the top eight of the ‘Race to Paris rankings list’.
